Without a shadow of a doubt, the Xbox 360 – exclusive Gears of War franchise is the finest series ever to hit the gaming world.
And if you ask me, no game has surpassed what the franchise has been able to reach. It’s been over a year since Epic Games followed up on the original and Gears of War 2 certainly didn’t disappoint.
Improving from the original Gears of War back in 2006, Gears of War 2 features a longer storyline for you to immerse yourself in this never ending battle between the Locust Horde and the Gears of War. Players once again take on the role of Marcus Fenix as the fearless leader of Delta Squad rejoins with Dominic Santiago in hopes of finally saving humanity from the Locust.
Gears of War 2 improves the series graphically, thanks to the advancements made on Epic Games’ Unreal Engine, aptly titled Unreal Engine 3. The game boasts all-new, great-looking environments that include Jacinto, humanity’s last bastion of hope, a giant ship and even the belly of a giant worm. (Yes, I’m serious.)
Gears of War 2 also has new multiplayer modes that include Horde. Horde lets you take three of your buddies as you try to survive wave after wave of the Locust Horde while trying to reach the highest score.
Trust me, Horde mode is a blast.
With Gears of War 2 still one of the most played games online on Xbox Live, I won’t be surprised if Epic Games finally release the third chapter to the Gears of War universe. And since the very first one was released back in November 2006 followed by Gears of War 2 in November 2008, I reckon we’ll be seeing number three before this year’s holiday season.
We can’t wait.
