It’s time once and for all to determine which is the true dominant specie in the universe.
Will you side with the Aliens or will you side with the Predators? Or will you choose neither and just go with the Marines and blast any extraterrestrial you see to smithereens? Whichever way you go, you should have a blast with Sega and Rebellion’s first person action game because playing as each of the three species featured in Aliens vs Predator is an experience every gamer should not pass on.
And in case you still didn’t get that, yes, Aliens vs Predator will let you play as the three different species featured in the game; Aliens, Predators and Marines, meaning you’ll get to experience three different campaigns with each as engrossing as the other two.
It is advisable though to start with the Marine campaign first as the story arc for the Marines will give you an overview of what to expect when you start to play as either the Aliens or the Predators. And while playing as the Marines won’t redefine the first person shooter genre, it still has its own charm to it that should keep you playing for hours. It’s arguably one of the most exciting campaign in the game too since playing as a Marine will give you chills every single time an Alien comes out of the shadows looking to take your head off.
Playing as either the Aliens or the Predators on the other hand, is an entirely different experience. While you get to have all kinds of ammunition playing as a Marine, you’ll be relying on your melee attacks playing as either the Alien or the Predator.
As the Alien, you get to lurk in the shadows waiting for your prey to present yourself to you. Your speed is an advantage as you get to go in and out of the action without taking much damage. On the other hand, playing as the Predator is perhaps the most rewarding part of the game as you get to stalk Marines with all kinds of abilities available to a Predator like uncanny leaping abilities and of course, probably the most important one, invisibility.
Online play is understandably frantic with all three species; the Aliens, the Predators and the Marines all jammed together on one battlefield. It’s not as addicting as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 but Aliens vs Predator should give gamers looking for something different a break.
